PROJECTS (outside of Auckland)
A project-based community engagement programme in collaboration with Ahipoutu Collective that empowers local whānau, hapū and iwi to extract their own stories - ancient wisdoms and everyday happenings - and transform them into highly engaging, innovative, meaningful cultural artefacts creating new legends.
RESEARCH. REIMAGINE. RECLAIM.
In collaboration with Te Wharekura o Mauao in Tauranga Moana, MATAATUA is a devised, bilingual theatre extravaganza that features singing, dance, haka and authentic storytelling and text (monologue and poetry), encouraging audiences to have faith in ourselves, find courage in the face of adversity, and take hold of the wisdom bestowed on us by those who came before.
FAITH. COURAGE. WISDOM.
Three jam-packed, 6-day Māori Theatre
workshops integrated with Māori mindfulness
practices, acting, dance, haka & waiata with
some of Aotearoa’s finest tutors. Each wānanga will end with an epic showcase performance weaving tradition with contemporary mahi toi celebrating rangatahi Māori realities & Tauranga Moana pūrakau.
An exciting collaboration between Moana Moko Creative Natives and Tuatara Collective, this is an opportunity for our Tauranga Moana rangatahi (14-21yrs) to fully realise their aspirations in the performing arts, & gain vital skills & techniques to tell our Māori stories authentically.
TAKITIMU is the first ever full-scale production by Te Wharekura o Mauao at Baycourt, and is a devised, bilingual theatre extravaganza that features singing, dance, haka and authentic storytelling and text (monologue and poetry), encouraging audiences to
