FOR THE FALLEN
A powerful and deeply moving ANZAC tribute honouring the courage, sacrifice, and legacy of the Māori Battalion, and the women, whānau, and communities who stood steadfast beside them. This evocative showcase features some of Aotearoa’s most compelling emerging performers.
Presented in an intimate restaurant setting, audiences are transported to the taverns and public houses of Europe and North Africa during WW1 and WW2, from Italy and Crete to Greece and Turkey. Through stirring wartime songs, dance, and haka, the performance weaves together letters from the front, personal accounts from local veterans, and poetry by celebrated Aotearoa writer Alistair Te Ariki Campbell.
Blending remembrance with powerful storytelling, FOR THE FALLEN invites audiences to reflect on the human stories behind the history, honouring those who served, those who waited, and those who never returned.
Kia maumahara tonu tātou ki a rātou.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning, we will remember them.
