FOR THE FALLEN commemorates the trials and tribulations of the Māori Battalion featuring some of New Zealand's most exciting up-and-coming actors, as well as an ensemble of vibrant rangatahi (young people).
Staged in a restaurant setting (or sometimes in the nearest RSA), audiences are transported into the taverns and public houses of Europe and North Africa during WWI and WWII - Italy, Crete, Greece, Turkey. With war-time songs, dance and text including letters from the front, personal accounts from local veterans, and a collection of poetry by Alistair Te Ariki Campbell, these performances will celebrate and remember our fallen ancestors.
FOR THE FALLEN includes a 6-day wānanga programme to develop and explore the content featuring educational workshops, effective Māori mindfulness & wellness practices and whakawhanaungatanga (relationship building), and culminates in the moving ANZAC tribute showcase.
